NORTHOWRAM HISTORICAL SOCIETY

On Friday 22nd January Year 2 had a visit from the Northowram Historical Society. They came to tell us about what Northowram was like in the past and what it is like now. They showed us lots of old photographs of Northowram. The children said that the best photos were the ones of the old market in Northowram, the field where our school has been built, how the fish and chip shop has always been a fish and chip shop and the old steam trams that would go down into Halifax were interesting to look at too. We learnt that many of our families have lived in Northowram for hundreds of years. The visit was interesting and valuable as part of our history topic on the local area.

Well done to everyone.

Thanks you

The Reception team would like to say a big thank you to all the parents for helping their children complete their homework to such a high standard and it has been great to have every book handed in for the last two weeks. We are really proud of their achievements and we’re sure you are too.

Thank you

Smile well and often, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Safeguarding Children

At Northowram School, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all members of the school community to share this commitment. Our school actively promotes fundamental British values. This commitment includes staff, governors, volunteers and contractors working on the school site.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment and these can be found on our website.

Sometimes we need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that this would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalisation and extremism.

Jane Jennings is our Designated Safeguarding Lead. She is the lead person in our school and the person to contact if you have concerns about a child. Mrs Scardifield and Mr Lomas are also Designated Safeguarding Leads. Canon James Allison is our Safeguarding Governor.
