Children in Need

Next Friday (13th November) school will be supporting Children in Need. It will be a non uniform day and children are encouraged to dress from head to toe in sports gear or as their favourite sporting personality. Alternatively they can wear spots. Simple non uniform is also fine.

We will be collecting donations which will be sent to Children in Need.

Let’s hope for a great day of fund raising!

Autumn 2

Here we are in the second half term of the year. The first one went by so quickly. This term we are looking at our marking and feedback policy and how we can develop this so that the children understand how to improve their work. We are also looking at the behaviour policy and challenging those expectations in general behaviour and in behaviour for learning. All that and the Christmas rush to look forward to!

Mr Naylor started on Monday 2nd November as Class Teacher for 5 Willow.

Mrs Sarah Lockett started on Tuesday 3rd November as School Administrator.

Good luck to them both in their time at our school!

Praise Assembly— Well done to the following children:-

Elouise Coulton, Mason Hunter, Reginald Cullinane, Louie Boshell, Isabella Hanks, Maisie Smith, Evie Henderson, Lillia Mazurke, Faye Dawber, Jessica Hunt, Callum Horsfall, Joseph Brown

Don’t forget to keep an eye on what your child is doing online. Maybe ask your child how they can keep safe and how to report any problems they encounter.

Cross Country

Our children competed in the Lightcliffe Academy cross country competition before half term and they all did brilliantly! We succeeded in getting the vast majority of our teams through to the Calderdale round which will be in the new year. Each and every one of the children contributed something and all should be congratulated. Some were representing school for the first time!

Year 6 have been to Howtown this week on their residential. It sounds like they have had a busy but great time.

The children travelled by coach to Howtown in the Lake District. In the afternoon we met the instructors and had a jog down to the lake followed by a swim, which was rather cold but fun. We have all tried lots of new activities including scrambling up a mountain, rowing a boat on the lake, canoeing, visiting a waterfall and gorge climbing. The weather has been mixed with some rain, foggy and sunshine.

We look forward to hearing all about the adventures when the children return home.

Halloween School Disco

The school disco was a great night full of the latest tunes, funky dance moves and excited children, which raised £935.01 for the school. This event wouldn’t have been possible without the children, parents, staff, teachers, the PTFA volunteers & our resident DJ. So a huge thank to you all for helping to make this event a success.
