Harvest Festival—Thank you to everyone who donated food items for the Halifax Food Bank. Your generosity was overwhelming and very much appreciated by school and foodbank volunteers. We are certain that your donations will be put to good use over the winter months. NSPCC Fundraiser—As you are aware the NSPCC came to visit our school recently and letters were issued to parents confirming details of the fundraising event taking place.

Over the next few days children will be carrying out several sporting activities (basketball shootout, jogging around the field, sponsored dance). Please may we politely request that any sponsor forms and sponsor money is sent into school no later than Tuesday 16th October 2018. Thank you!

School car parks

We know that parking around school is at a premium at drop-off & pick-up times. Parking in the school car parks is for school staff and parents with a parking permit only. These are only given to parents with a specific need that the school is aware of. Please do not make life more difficult for those with a known parking need by using these places.

Parents should not normally use the carpark without a parking permit. Many thanks to all our careful and considerate families including many who make the sensible decision to walk to and from school!

School council

The school council have now chosen the charity that we as a school will be supporting throughout this academic year. The chosen charity is: Candlelighters— a charity that supports families facing children’s cancer within Yorkshire. Proceeds from some of our non-uniform days etc will go to this charity.

We will keep a total of all monies raised throughout the year and announce the total before breaking up in the summer term. The first fundraising event (chocolate tombola) has been organised by some of our year 6 pupils: Charlotte W, Evie W, Molly W, Imogen M and Evie H.

The tombola will take place in school during week commencing 5th November and will be available to children across years 1-6. Posters will be displayed in and around school giving more information.

Gardening club

The gardening club recently donated plants from our bio-dome to former teacher Miss Higson to help create a place of relaxation at Airedale Hospital. The garden was awarded ‘Outstanding’ and we are certain that this was with the aid of our plants that the children grew from seed/plug plants. A special message was received in school: Airedale Hospital Radiology Department would like to thank Northowram School Gardening Club for their kind donation of plants to our Courtyard Garden.
