Welcome back!

Welcome back to a brand new, extremely busy and exciting academic year.

An extended warm welcome goes to all of the new pupils, families and staff who have joined us at Northowram Primary this September. We look forward to working together and hope that you will all be very happy during your time with us.

We have been very busy over the summer holidays—we have had a brand new fire alarm fitted, and our Nursery has been re-furbished inside and out. We have also had the school offices redecorated.

We have lots of events scheduled for the next half term and this newsletter contains lots of information about what we have planned.

Welcome Laura

My name is Laura Horsfall and I am the new Deputy Headteacher. I am an experienced leader who has previously worked in several schools in Bradford. I am extremely excited to be a part of Northowram Primary School and being a part of the whole school community. I am looking forward to working with you to achieve the best possible outcomes for your children. I have had a
fantastic first week back and I have really enjoyed meeting and getting to know the children across school.

I look forward to meeting you all!

Open Classrooms

Following the success of last year we will once again be holding ‘Open Classrooms’.

This will take place on Monday 23rd September 2019 between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.

PLEASE NOTE: Open Classroom for Year 3 Oak will take place on Thursday 26th September 3.30pm—4.30pm.

Our Open Classroom events are designed so that you can meet your child’s class teacher, have a look at your child’s work produced during these first weeks of school and receive useful information about homework and other routines in your child’s class. It is an informal ‘drop-in’ session—please feel free to come in when you pick up from school or come back late – whichever suits you best!

We look forward to seeing you.

School Photographs

Individual and sibling photographs will be taken in school on Wednesday 2nd October 2019. All photographs of siblings in school will be taken during school time. However if parents would like to have photographs taken of younger siblings then this is available from 8.15am in the school hall.

For pupils who are in Nursery that do not normally attend on a Wednesday they are invited to attend either in the morning or afternoon to have their photo taken with the rest of the class.

More information about this will be given nearer the time.

Please note: we must have consent forms for all pupils to have their photograph taken. If you are unsure if we have your form, please contact the school office.

This year the chosen charity for our Harvest collection is Calderdale Smartmove.

Smartmove are a registered charity established in 1998. They are an independent organisation supporting homeless and vulnerably housed individuals and families across Calderdale. Their clients often have complex issues such as mental and physical health problems, learning difficulties, domestic abuse, autism etc and some have simply endured a period of “bad luck”.
Harvest week in school is week beginning 30th September 2019.

More information and an assembly about this will be given a little nearer the time.
