Farmers’ Market
The Farmers’ Market was held in school on Thursday 26th November and once again it was a great success. Many classes contributed items for sale including gift bags, personalised mugs, sweet cones, gingerbread biscuits and baubles. We also sold Northowram Primary School Piccalilli and Chutney. We raised £338 and this money will be invested in the purchasing of additional equipment for craft, cookery and gardening both in the curriculum and future events.
You may have noticed the base being constructed for the Biodome which will help us to develop gardening through school. Thank you for supporting school with this event.
Assessment
Please take some time to have a look at our school website for information on new assessment systems which are replacing the old national curriculum levels. Teachers are now working to fresh expectations in each year group. We are looking towards giving you a clear picture of your child’s progress towards age related standards in time for the Spring Parents Evening.

Welcome to Northowram and good luck to her during her time at our school!
YOUNG MATHEMATICIANS COMPETITION ROUND 2
Four of our Year 6 children took part in the Young Mathematicians Round 2 last week in Leeds. Unfortunately we did not go through to the finals, but we did get the best score in our region which is a super achievement.
Well done to everyone who took part and represented the school so well in this
REPORTING ABSENCE
If your child is absent from school please ensure that you either telephone school as soon as possible each day of the absence or report the absence on the new ParentMail app.
Safeguarding Children
At Northowram School, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all members of the school community to share this commitment. This includes staff, governors, volunteers and contractors working on the school site.
We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment and these can be found on our website.
Sometimes we need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that this would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalisation and extremism.
Jane Jennings is our Designated Safeguarding Lead. She is the lead person in our school and the person to contact if you have concerns about a child. Mrs Scardifield and Mr Lomas are also Designated Safeguarding Leads. Canon James Allison is our Safeguarding Governor.
