Under 8s Gym Display

The Under 8’s went to North Bridge to join in with the Calderdale Gym Display this week. As you would imagine, they performed really well and they had a great time. Well done to all of these pupils who represented school so well and worked so hard to prepare. It is good that so many children love performing. We can hardly keep up with them!

The volunteers continue to want to come up to Northowram School. Yesterday, 10 volunteers from Lloyds Banking Group came to volunteer on their ‘day to make a difference’. They helped out with arts week, creating a giant picture with children from each year group. They also helped out in the outdoor area, finishing the bottle greenhouse and painting the compost bins and raised beds, with the help of the children. There are more visits being planned. Thanks to all who attended.

Last week the Under 11 girls cricket team went to Copley Cricket Club to participate in the inter-schools cricket tournament. It was great fun and it was a good experience to work as a team.

For many of us it was a new experience and we loved it. We didn’t manage to win our games, but it is not always about winning. We loved having a go.

Health and Sports Week

We had a great time last week, learning all about healthy eating. Also many of our sports days took place. We hope that you enjoyed the events, the children certainly did. The children also enjoyed many health related activities and we focussed on
things like healthy breakfasts, looking after teeth, reducing sugar and the importance of a balanced diet and eating in moderation.

There was plenty of cooking going on in the classes. Every year group looked at a specific country and their traditional foods.
