A Grand Soiree

It is amazing that we had about 450 spectators at our recent Soiree, which took place at North Bridge Leisure Centre before half term. It was a fantastic event and for the children who were performing to receive such support and encouragement is great and benefits them so much. It reflects well on the hard work of school, home and the children that, even with a huge event such as this, we are unable to include as many children as we would wish.

We will continue to develop what we offer to children in these areas. It is worth noting that the Soiree is just a showcase for all the things that have been worked on during the year, rather than us preparing specifically for a grand show. Our challenge is now to keep up and surpass the amazing achievements at the next event!

Farmers’ Market

It seemed like there were hundreds of people in the hall for the recent Farmers’ Market. Once again many of the classes had been working very hard to produce items to sell. One of the things that makes our Farmers’ Markets special is the amazing support that we get from the school community. In order to further develop the success of the event and the children’s learning in the area of enterprise, we are hoping to involve some children in decision making about the use of profits from the market and the planning of future markets. Thank you for the great support with this event.

Message from Ian Marshall:

The Gardening Club would like to thank local resident and tradesman Tim Sugden for his kind help in delivering soil on 2 occasions to school for use in our eco greenhouse and planting beds.

Non-Uniform Day—Nepal

Congratulations to Katie Asquith who raised £30.87 by selling loom bands to friends and family, assisted by Gabrielle Holdsworth. Well done. This money will now go with the £362.42 which was raised for the Nepal earthquake relief effort on the non uniform day. Thank you to everyone who sent money in.

We are through to the Yorkshire finals of hard ball cricket. This comes after winning both of our matches in the West Yorkshire round. The team members were Jacob Reeday, Liam Dimbleby, Archie Halmshaw, Freddie Haigh, Ryan Moore, Mason Young, Oliver Howarth and Sam Dimbleby. It was noted that their collective attitude was fantastic. Well done and good luck in the next round.

Spirited Arts

During the early part of this term we are thinking about our entries for the Spirited Arts competition. This year the children are asked to ask one big question and to consider this question. In assemblies we have been thinking about big questions that require deep thought.
